Christopher J. Hagan
Mr. Hagan is a partner with the firm who provides litigation services to public and private sector clients. His practice focuses on medical negligence, government tort liability, automobile liability, wrongful death, wrongful termination and matters arising out of ADA claims, including representation of local government agencies and school districts in a variety of litigation matters.
Mr. Hagan attended California State University, Stanislaus where he received his undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice Administration. While attending C.S.U. Stanislaus, Mr. Hagan worked for the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department in addition to completing a reserve peace officer academy at the Ray Simon Criminal Justice training center.
In 2000, Mr. Hagan graduated from C.S.U. Stanislaus and went on to attend University of the Pacific's McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, California. While at McGeorge, he received trial advocacy honors and was invited to participate in the Top Oral Advocate Competition. During his second and third year of law school, Mr. Hagan clerked for the United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of California where he tried cases in Federal Magistrate court. Mr. Hagan graduated from McGeorge in 2003 with a Juris Doctorate and joined the Law Firm of Clifford & Brown, becoming a partner in 2009. Some of Mr. Hagan’s career highlights include:
- Mr. Hagan successfully represented a Community College District in a case involving the clients’ challenge of an award of attorneys’ fees totaling more that four times the jury verdict in the case. Mr. Hagan briefed and successfully argued before the Fight District Court of Appeal for the reversal of the award.
- On behalf of a local hospital, Mr. Hagan successfully obtained judgment against a traveling nurse company after the company refused to defend and indemnify the firm’s client in an alleged medical malpractice action.
- For one of the firm’s long term clients, Mr. Hagan worked extensively to obtain Summary Judgment for a major oil Company, and have the judgment affirmed by the Fifth District Court of Appeal.
- Mr. Hagan successfully defended a local City, its Mayor and several of its Police Officers in a lawsuit brought by a local citizen who claimed that his civil rights had been violated.
