James B. Wiens

Mr. Wiens was born in Porterville, California, a small town north of Bakersfield, attended the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon and University of California at Berkley, California, and graduated from Berkeley in June of 1971 with a degree in psychology. He attended the California State University at Hayward, California with an emphasis on chemistry and science. Thereafter, he moved to San Diego and attended California Western School of Law, attaining his Juris Doctorate in May of 1977.

Prior to joining the firm of Clifford & Brown in 1985, Mr. Wiens served as general counsel for a large trucking company in Tulare County. Thereafter he practiced as a Deputy District Attorney in the Tulare County District Attorney's Office doing general criminal trial work. Before Joining Clifford & Brown in 1985, Mr. Wiens was engaged in private practice in Porterville, California for approximately three years.

Mr. Wiens has a fairly broad business and estate planning practice ranging from serving as general counsel for a number of business and farming clients to handling corporate and partnership matters, sales of businesses, agricultural law and various agriculturally related agreements and issues related thereto, real property matters including sales, leases, easements, condemnation and other aspects and probate and estate planning matters including wills, trusts, will and trust contests and related court proceedings. Mr. Wiens is individually "BV" rated by Martindale-Hubbell.

Mr. Wiens is an active member and past president in both the local estate planning and probate sections of the Kern County Bar Association and the Estate Planning Counsel of Bakersfield. Mr. Wiens is a past member of Board of Directors of Kern County Bar Association and serves on the Board of Advisors for the Small Business Development Center and was a founding board member in the Smart Growth Coalition of Kern County involved in encouraging rational land use in land development. He is a member of the State Bar of California.
