Jeremy J. Schroeder
Jeremy J. Schroeder was born in Sacramento, California on January 31, 1976. He completed his undergraduate work at the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1999, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Thereafter, he received his Juris Doctorate from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2002. Prior to joining Clifford & Brown, Mr. Schroeder worked in the litigation management department of a major computer manufacturer in San Diego, California, assisting in the management of large scale document productions and internal investigations relating civil class actions and federal regulatory matters. Mr. Schroeder joined Clifford & Brown in 2002 as an associate attorney, and now practices as a partner in the firm.
Mr. Schroeder specializes in litigation, enjoying a diverse practice including both tort and business matters on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants. His practice includes business disputes, automobile liability, wrongful death, collection actions, law enforcement defense, mechanic’s lien law, personal injury, ADA defense, government tort liability, FELA defense, and many other areas of litigation practice. Mr. Schroeder is admitted to practice in both the State and Federal Courts of California, with a successful track record of jury and bench trials. Some of Mr. Schroeder’s career highlights include:
- Defense jury verdict in Kern County in favor of Bakersfield Police Department in 28 U.S.C.S. 1983 excessive force action involving injuries sustained by fleeing suspect apprehended by police K-9.
- $485,000 recovery on mechanic’s lien and payment bond action in favor of subcontractor on failed residential development.
- Favorable Madera County jury verdict of $8,850 against client facing $55,000 fraud damages claim with punitive damages allegations presented to the jury.
- $4.5M plaintiff’s jury verdict in Kern County as primary litigation support in construction defect and product loss action against general contractor relating to defective design and construction of a 60,000 sq. ft. onion cold storage facility in Lancaster, CA.
- Defense judgment in Kern County in favor of Bakersfield Police Department in defamation/negligence action asserted by arrestee, judgment by nonsuit in bifurcated bench trial on issue of municipal entity duty.
- Successfully defeated injunction action filed by Bakersfield City Council candidate applicant arising out of defective nomination petition in the weeks prior to the 2008 elections.
- $30,000 pre-litigation plaintiff’s settlement for client who was served fast food sandwich containing a soiled bandage.
Mr. Schroeder’s community involvement includes participation in the California Mock Trial Competition as an attorney coach for the Centennial High School mock trial team from 2002 through 2007.
